We all know that pizza is a savory Italian dish.
It consists of a typical round, flattened base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often other ingredients — such as anchovies, mushrooms, onions, olives, pineapple, meat, and so on.
When did the journey of pizza production start?
The use of tomato as a topping was the breakthrough that led to flatbread pizza. Tomato is from the Solanaceae (nightshade) family. It was introduced to Europe from the Americas in the 16th century, many Europeans use to believe that it was poisonous for a long time.
However, by the late 18th century, it was common for the poor of the Naples in Italy area to add tomato to their yeast-based flatbread, and so the pizza began.
The Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba in Naples is widely considered as the world’s first pizzeria.
Convenience has always been a major factor in the pizza industry. Everything from the way we eat a slice of pizza to the restaurant’s conceptual design.
Have you ever had this happen to you?
The tip of your pizza slice dips, the toppings fall victim to gravity, and you’re suddenly left holding a greasy slab of pizza base and little else?
Scrumdiddlyumptious devised a simple solution: Stuffed Pizza Cones!
The YouTube channel inspired by this recipe also features the best recipes and cooking hacks that you can easily recreate at home.
To make these Stuffed Pizza Cones, you’ll need to prepare the following, so keep on reading.
Here are the ingredients:
- 1 sheet of round pizza dough
- shredded cheese
- tomato sauce
- onions
- pepper
- pepperoni slices
The steps are as follows:
Step 1: Begin by folding a sheet of letter paper into a small cone as follows:
Fold the paper in half across its width, then in half again to form a rectangle. Take one of the folded paper’s long sides and fold it across to the other long side to form a trapezium.
Then, using the free corner, fold the paperback in half to make a kite shape. Construct a cone out of the paper and fold the corners sticking out at the top inside it. Then wrap the cone in baking parchment. Prepare four of these paper cones.
Step 2: Cut the pizza dough crosswise into four equal-sized pieces. Wrap each piece around a paper cone.
Step 3: Stand the cones upside down on a baking sheet for 20 minutes at 360 degrees Fahrenheit (182 degrees Celsius). Then, remove the paper cones after they have cooled slightly.
Step 4: To fill a cone, place it in a glass the right way up. Start with a small amount of cheese, followed by a tablespoon of tomato sauce, onions, chopped pepper, and pepperoni slices.
Finish by sprinkling more cheese on top.
Step 5: Finally, bake the cones for another 5 minutes at 360°F.
Serve and enjoy this new treat for you and your friends!
Scrumdiddlyumptious has a reminder though:
“Now when it comes to losing your toppings, with Pizza Cones, it’s only possible in one position — and anyone holding them upside down is going to look pretty stupid pretty quickly.”
