With the summer ending and the arrival of the fall, we also welcome the flu season. This is the part of the year when we need to be extra careful so we won’t end up sick nor we’ll help with the spread of viruses!
Since the beginning of March and COVID-19’s new norm, we became a little bit experts ourselves on how to prevent and manage unexpected flues. So, this year in particular our bodies would need something extra to boost our weakened immune system. And one would argue that one of the most well-known superfoods for a strong immune system is the…Chicken Soup!
Who hasn’t had a bowl of warm chicken soup on a rainy day or while being sick? It’s not random that for the majority of the population chicken soup is considered a comfort food that makes you feel better as soon as you have your first taste!
Chicken soup has been an all-times’ favourite as its broth is full of healthy nutritients. It has been used for its healing properties since thousands of years ago and people still today prefer a bowl of chicken soup over medication.
The secret lies in the broth, and particularly in the nutritients and minerals that are released when simmering the bones. The broth that is produced is considered “therapeutic” as it boosts the whole body. Many people drink a cup of the bone broth daily as it helps with the collagen production and protects the health of the joints, bones and skin!
Therefore, we searched and found a very nice chicken soup recipe for a slow cooker, to help you prepare your body for the flu season! It is an easy recipe with only five ingredients that you can easily put together.
The recipe is done with boneless chicken breast which means you will need to use a ready-made chicken broth or from your own stock. Of course, if you are up to it, you might want to prepare the chicken broth from the beginning, therefore using a chicken with its bones.
You will need the ingredients below:
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 can of cream of chicken soup
- 1 box of stuffing mix
- 1/2 cup of water
Put your chicken into the slow cooker. Then pour your broth, your soup, the stuffing mix, and water into a bowl, mix it together and then with a spoon, pour it gradually on top of your chicken.
Cook the soup on low for seven hours. Serve your soup along with some fresh-baked bread!
Bon appétit!
And as it says on Cambell’s website, “The end result is a soul-warming, trusted chicken noodle soup that brings a smile with every spoonful”!
