Being crazy is now a good thing, especially if it’s on the dance floor.

Swing dance became popular during the 1920s to 1940s which they call the “Swing Era.” Though it is an old style of dance, people have found ways to preserve it over the years, like swing dance competitions, social gatherings, and many other dance events that are being held all around the globe.

And when you talk about swing dance, you should never forget the names, Nils and Bianca.

Nils Andrén and Bianca Locatelli are world-class performers when it comes to swing dancing. With the love and passion they have for the art, they have been competing, teaching, and preserving the dance globally.

They were both still young when they began dancing in their home countries. They competed with other partners before they crossed paths. They also danced to other styles like ballet, lindy hop swing, Latin dances, hip hop, ballroom, and the Swedish bugg.

They became regular partners when Bianca moved to Sweden when she was 16 years old. Since then, they’ve been performing and competing together.

Nils and Bianca are also members of the Swedish national team in Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop.

In fact, in Herrang Sweden, an annual gathering for everyone called the Herräng Dance Camp is being held for five weeks in late summer with attendees from over 40 countries.

Why did we say that it’s for everyone? On their website, they wrote:

“The event is a melting-pot for beginners with two left feet as well as for professionals decorated with medals and applauds.”

That simply means that even those who haven’t danced their entire life could join. It’s a good way of marketing, not for profit, but for the preservation of the dance style.

The dance camp is situated in the seaside village and teaching people is what matters most to them.

“Classes are held on all levels, and the entire event is rooted in a social context covering more or less 24 hours a day, holding all kind of swing dance parties as well as illustrious theme parties, but also debates, interviews, lectures, film presentations and all that jazz from dawn to dusk and from dusk to dawn.”

Before the pandemic, they performed at the Rock That Swing Festival 2020, which is yearly being held in Munich, Germany. As expected the two showed everyone nothing but a spectacle of a dance performance that only dancers of their caliber could pull off.

This video of their performance is just one of the many examples of how magnificent these dancers are once that boogie-woogie tune starts playing. The music is upbeat and lively and you’ll wonder how they can keep up.

The right question should be, how can the music keep up with them?

Their feet are on fire!

It is definitely not the ordinary swing dance performance that we often see, there’s something that these two possess which makes them deserving to be called “world-class.”

You would know how great they are without even watching the video, the comments will tell you why.

This one couldn’t agree more:

“Bianca and Nils are certainly crowd pleasers–but then, they are, of course, THE BEST!!”
