The year 2020 just got crazier for this family.
The wonderful feeling of being a first-time parent is indeed unbeatable. Especially if you’re that type of parent who wanted a boy and, luckily, your wish was granted to you.
If you and your wife or partner fall into that category of parents, based on a 2013 study, you belong to the 47% of couples who said they would prefer to have a son as their first child because they thought boys were “less hard work” than girls.
Also one of the reasons why parents choose a boy as a firstborn rather than a girl is because they believe boys are better at looking after younger siblings. And of course, the boy will carry out their last names in the next generations to come.
A West Michigan couple had a boy as their firstborn, his name is Tyler and he was born when his parents were just teens.
They were then just 17 to be more precise. Katerin and Jay Schwandt were high-school sweethearts and their young love produced a lovely boy. However, they didn’t just have one kid, they had another one, and another one, and the rest was history. Then they had 14 children and they’re all boys!
You read the last line correctly, Katerin and Jay had 14 boys!
They formed more than just a basketball team! Since then, their friends and families have always been guessing that their next child is going to be a girl.
When everyone’s hope of them having a girl had been toppled down to the canvass, a blessing came by surprise!
Just a few weeks ago, Katerin gave birth to their 15th child, and this time, they guessed it right!
Finally, after years of waiting, they had a girl! Katerin and Jay now have a princess! Guess she’s going to be the only flower among the thorns. Their wish has already been granted at long last!
“We are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family,” Jay Schwandt said. “This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine.”
Welcoming a baby girl to their already huge family was such a blessing and special in more ways than one. They named their little princess Maggie Jayne, it’s the combination of her parents’ names.
Katerin’s middle name is Margaret- that’s where Maggie comes from, and Jayne obviously comes from her daddy Jay’s.
Maggie’s 14 brothers who have a Facebook page called ‘14 Outdoorsmen‘ shared their excitement about having a new baby sister.
On a Facebook post, they wrote:
“As if 2020 couldn’t any crazier! We are blessed to welcome and announce the birth of our little SISTER, Maggie Jayne. Her and mom are doing well and we couldn’t be more excited!”
For Jay, he said he needed to double-check if the newborn was really a girl.
And she is 100% a girl!
There’s no doubt about it, the couple was blessed with a princess. In fact, the outfits she wore for the official photos at the hospital were 28 years old, when they had Tyler, hoping he was a girl.
Katerin and Jay also admitted they literally have no pink clothes at home, this time we’re sure they’ll be hoarding pink stuff for their little Maggie Jayne.
Looks like the Schwandt family will make some adjustments from here on out. We’re also guessing the 14 brothers will soon change their Facebook page’s name since they now have a little girl in their family.
