Today, we’re making a cornflake fried chicken recipe that’s actually pretty simple to make. Although the cornflake addition may seem a little unusual, it leads to a flavor that is absolutely delicious and unique. After you’ve given this recipe a try, you’re sure to want to make this one again and again. It’s also perfect for all kinds of parties! So let’s get started.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Meat and Breading:

  • 1 1/2 pounds of chicken
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups of corn flakes
  • 6 tablespoons of butter

Gravy:

  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 5 tablespoons of flour
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • salt
  • pepper

Here’s what you do:

1. To get started, tenderize your chicken breasts by putting each one under a layer of plastic wrap and pounding each one flat until they’re only a half-inch thick or so.

2. In the meantime, make your breading in a separate bowl. To do this, put your flour, eggs and cornflakes in separate bowls. Gently crunch up your cornflakes as well. After that, add your paprika, salt and pepper into the flour and mix it all up. When everything is ready, dip your chicken breasts in flour, then in the eggs mixture and then into the cornflakes.

3. After that, get out a large pan and melt your two tablespoons of butter and add about a third of your prepared chicken. Keep cooking it for about three minutes until it turns golden brown on each side. When the chicken is done, set the chicken aside, take the excess crumbs out and repeat the process until all the chicken is cooked.

4. To make your gravy, melt the rest of the butter in a saucepan and add flour. Stir everything together and add your broth, salt and pepper until the whole thing starts to thicken. When the gravy is done, pour your gravy over the chicken and serve it up while it’s hot!

As you can see, the process of cooking this chicken is very straightforward. You don’t need a full deep frier or much oil to make this recipe work—all you need to do is make your breading and cook it over the stove top. If you’ve never made fried chicken at home before (or it has never turned out quite the way you wanted it to), this recipe is definitely worth trying out.

Although the seasoning we’ve described above is relatively simple, you can also add your own flair to it as you see fit. For a little more spice, feel free to add in some cayenne pepper. For a more complex flavor, try out some garlic powder! Though we leave the specifics up to you, this recipe is sure to become a favorite for the whole family.
