If you’re anything like us, you’re always on the lookout for a new delicious and easy dinner recipe to make for the whole family. Every family has its own standbys but we end up leaning towards the things that only require us throwing some stuff in a pan or a tray for a delicious result. Still, there’s always room to learn a few new tricks in the kitchen. With that in mind, we have a perfect new dish for you to try out.

Originally called the “crack” chicken spaghetti bake dish, this meal is easy to make and hits all the checkmarks when it comes to cheesy, savory, delicious and simple cooking.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 16 oz spaghetti
  • 2 cans of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packages of cubed Velveeta cheese
  • 1 cup of chicken broth (low-sodium if possible)
  • 1 package of dry ranch mix
  • 2 cups of shredded or cubed chicken (already cooked)
  • 1/3 cup of bacon bits
  • 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 9 x 13-inch baking dish

Here’s what you do:

1. First, got a big pot of salted water and bring it to a boil. Cook your spaghetti in there according to the instructions on whatever brand you purchased. Once it’s all done, drain it and set it to the side.

2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray some cooking oil in your baking dish to make sure the surface is non-stick.

3. In another saucepan, combine your chicken soup, Velveeta cheese and chicken broth over medium heat. Keep stirring it and working it together until everything melts and it appears smooth. At that point, whisk in your ranch mix along with some salt and pepper to taste.

4. Get your drained pasta and throw it in the bottom of your baking dish. Mix that together with your shredded chicken as well. After that, pour in the cheese sauce you made from the saucepan and stir everything together, making sure it’s all combined evenly. Finally, top the whole thing with your shredded cheddar cheese and your bacon bits.

5. Once the recipe is all set and the oven is hot enough, throw the baking dish in and bake the entire thing for 30 to 35 minutes. When all is said and done, your dish should be melted and bubbly on the top and the entire dish is heated through.

Even though this meal couldn’t be simpler, all the ingredients combine together to make a cheesy and savory meal that your entire family is sure to love. There are, of course, ways to tweak this recipe and to make some of the preparation easier. Though it might affect the flavor somewhat, you can try buying a precooked rotisserie chicken and shredding it to work for this recipe.

Similarly, although home-cooked bacon that you’ve crumbled up yourself is sure to add the most flavor and kick, you could cheat by getting bacon bits on top instead in a pinch. Though it goes without saying, you can also pick and choose what kind of cheese you want to make the dish even more exciting as well. In all, have fun experimenting with different ingredients and flavors and tell us what you think!
