Do you have a favorite dessert recipe? Though there’s plenty of fancy recipes we could spend time on if we’re in the mood, there’s also plenty of snack-style desserts that hit the spot as well. If you’re looking for something easy, you can always have a handful of cookies, a little bit of candy or a couple brownies. Although all of these can definitely do the trick, sometimes the time of year dictates what kind of food we want to eat.
In the summer time, sometimes the occasion calls for a dessert than can cool us off a little bit. Today, we have a creamy and delicious recipe that will do just that—and is a twist on a classic. That’s right, we’re making a cherry cheesecake dip that is so delicious and amazing. Instead of a full slice of cherry cheesecake, you can make a dish of it that you can dip into and keep in the fridge for when you have more of an appetite later. So let’s get started.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 1 8-ounce package of Cool Whip or other frozen topping
- 1/2 jar of marshmallow creme
- 2 cups of cherry pie filling
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- cookies or wafers to serve with
Here’s what you do:
1. To get started, make sure your cream cheese is softening at room temperature and get out a large bowl or a mixer. When you’re ready, pour your cream cheese and marshmallow creme into the bowl and blend it all up until it turns smooth. When the mix is at that stage, add your vanilla extract and mix that in as well.
2. After that, get out your frozen whipped topping and pour it into your mixing bowl as well. Gradually fold the whipped topping in until it’s all evenly incorporated.
3. When the mixture is ready, get out an eight or nine inch baking dish and spread the whipped mixture into the bottom of it. Finally, top the frozen layer with your cherry pie filling and you’re ready to serve! Serve it with a side of small cookies or other dipping desserts and enjoy.
Although this recipe has all the same delicious flavor as a standard slice of cheesecake, this version is even easier to make and is a little easier to manage as well. Perhaps best of all in this entire process? You don’t even have to use an oven to make it. At the end of everything, this dessert dish works well to keep in the fridge for your own family or to bring to a party as a shared dessert option. But we leave the specifics up to you!
While the instructions we’ve included are for a cherry cheesecake, the principal remains the same for other flavors as well. If cherries don’t suit you, try adding some blueberries instead! Strawberries would also work well—you can even use a medley of fruits if you want. Above all, enjoy the process and let us know what you think!
