Cabbage is a common ingredient in Turkish dishes, both in main dishes and side dishes. This recipe showcases cabbage as a main dish.

The chef who posted this video even claims that this dish is tastier than meat schnitzel!

The best part of this recipe is that it’s very easy to make. Whether you are looking for a new dish to add to meatless Mondays or you just want to add a new delicious dish to your weekly menu, we highly recommend this cabbage dish!

First, get a head of cabbage and cut it in half.

Chop each half of the cabbage finely and put the shredded cabbage into a pot.

Put the pot of cabbage on a stove over high heat and add four glasses of water.

Boil the cabbage for ten minutes while occasionally stirring the cabbage. Ensure not to boil the cabbage for too long.

Drain the cabbage and let it cool. Set aside.

Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat and saute onion and garlic. After, remove the onion and garlic mixture and set aside.

Get the drained cabbage and place it in a bowl. Make a well in the middle.

Pour three raw eggs into the well and add the sauteed onions and garlic.

Next, add four tablespoons of flour, one teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of ground red pepper, and a teaspoon of ground back pepper into the egg and flour mixture.

Mix the cabbage together. Ensure that all the ingredients are well combined.

When the cabbage mixture is done, set it aside. Put some oil in a pan and put over medium heat.

When the pan is hot, take one spoon of the cabbage mixture and put it on the pan.

Continue scooping the mixture into the pan, making separate cabbage patties.

Fry each cabbage pattie and flip over when brown.

When both sides of the patties are brown, remove them from the pan and set the cabbage patties aside.

To make a sauce for the cabbage patties, mix three tablespoons of yogurt, two sprigs of dill, and one grated cucumber together. Sprinkle some red pepper on top.

Serve the cabbage patties with the yogurt mixture, and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of cabbage
  • 2 onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of flour

Directions:

  1. Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
  2. Put the chopped cabbage into a pot, add four glasses of water, and boil the cabbage.
  3. Drain the cabbage and set aside.
  4. Saute the onions and the garlic over medium heat. Set aside.
  5. Put the cabbage in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Pour three eggs into the well. Add the flour, salt, red pepper, and black pepper.
  6. Mix the cabbage mixture well.
  7. Get a pan, add oil, and put over heat.
  8. Spoon the cabbage mixture into individual patties and fry each side until brown.
  9. Mix the yogurt, dill, cucumber, and red powder together in a separate container.
  10. Serve the yogurt mixture with the cabbage patties.
