Although many of us probably have Bundt pan laying around our kitchen somewhere, we probably don’t break it out all too often. For those who don’t know, the Bundt pan traces its origins back to European brioche-style cakes called Gugelhupf which were particularly popular among European-Jewish communities. Still, the cake molds have spread around the world and are typically used for sweet dessert dishes. With the advent of the internet, however, the Bundt cake pan has been repurposed for all number of recipes and food hacks.

Today, we’re bringing another recipe with an inventive use of this pan—though it’s not a dessert dish. Instead, we’re going to fill it with dough and cheese to create a puffy and delicious Bundt-shaped cheesy bread. Though this meal is delicious enough to snack on all its own, it also goes perfectly as a side with a salad, an Italian dinner or even alongside some other tasters at a backyard cookout. So with no further ado, let’s get started.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 cups of sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sour cream
  • 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

Here’s what you do:

1. Before you start, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and get your Bundt pan sprayed down with some non-stick cooking spray. Spread it all around the pan evenly with a paper towel as needed.

2. After that, put your flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, garlic powder and onion powder in a large mixing bowl. Be sure to stir it up so it’s all evenly combined.

3. Once your dry ingredients are mixed, crack your eggs in another bowl and add in your sour cream and Greek yogurt. Whisk the wet ingredients together well and then gradually pour them into your dry mix as well. Add in your melted butter and stir everything together well.

4. As a final touch, add in your cheddar and parmesan cheeses and stir again to combine everything. With your dough prepared, pour it into your Bundt pan and spread it out evenly to the edges. When the oven is ready, pop the cake tin in and let it bake for 50 to 55 minutes.

5. Once enough time has passed, do the toothpick test to make sure your dough has cooked all the way through: if you can stab a toothpick into the middle of your dough and have it come out clean, your bread is done. Slice it into pieces and serve while it’s hot!
