  • 1 cup of chopped Semi-sweet dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder

Step 1- Prep

Now that you’ve got that out of the way, the first thing you’ll want to do is prepare your pan and preheat the oven to 350℉.

Lightly brush the bottom of your baking pan with melted butter. Take a strip of parchment paper just wide enough to cover the bottom and sides of the pan and still have an inch or two left and stick to the pan.

Add another coat of butter on top of the parchment paper and repeat with another sheet of parchment paper in the opposite direction.

Step 2- melt

Set a pan with an inch or two of water on low-medium heat and bring to a simmer. (If you haven’t already chopped your chocolate, now’s the perfect time to do so.)

Place the chocolate pieces into a heat-proof bowl large enough to sit on top of the pan of water without being submerged. Place the bowl over the pan and add in the butter.

Using a spatula, stir the chocolate and butter together as it melts and continue stirring until the butter and chocolate are completely combined. Once it is, set it aside and let it cool.

Step 3- build the batter

In a separate mixing bowl, add the sugar, brown sugar, and one egg. Whisk to combine. Repeat this with the other two eggs, adding in one at a time, and whisk together until everything is creamy.

Then, add the salt and vanilla.

Step 4- Pour in the chocolate

Slowly pour the chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture. Use the whisk to gently mix the batter, making sure not to slosh any of it over the sides.

Step 5- sift

After you have thoroughly mixed the chocolate batter, it should be a rich dark brown color. Once it is, sift in the flour and cocoa powder.

Mix this together until you have a thick, rich brownie batter and transfer to your baking dish. Give it a few gentle taps on the counter to let out any air bubbles.

Step 6- Bake

Bake the brownies at 350℉ for 30 minutes, then remove from the oven and let them cool for 15-20 minutes.

Now all that’s left to do is cut into these perfect, gooey, fudgy brownies and enjoy!
