Do you love Burger King’s chicken fries but hate the idea of eating unhealthy chemicals and preservatives?
Well, why not make them at home?
This way you can use fresh (or even local) ingredients and you’ll know exactly what’s going into the food you and your family are eating.
And you don’t need a fancy fryer. You can make chicken fries that are just as tasty as the fried fast food ones by baking them in the oven.
It’s all the delicious taste without the guilt or concern!
Your family (and your own stomach) will be over the moon when you tell them chicken fries are on the menu for dinner. Just make sure you make enough for everyone.
These yummy things will likely go fast!
This recipe for baked chicken fries serves four to five people and takes 30 minutes or less to make. Yes, we said 30 minutes or less!
Here how to make them…
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 of cups plain bread crumbs
- 1 cup of flour
- 5 beaten eggs
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
Directions:
Step 1) Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2) Cut your chicken breast in half and slice them into thin strips. You’ll want to cut them so that the pieces resemble a french fry.
Step 3) Pour your breadcrumbs into a large bowl and season your bread crumbs by mixing in your salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried basil, dried oregano, and pepper. Make sure that everything is blended together well.
Step 4) Place your flour into a bowl and toss in your chicken strips so that they are completely dredged in flour.
Step 5) Place your egg into a bowl and dip your floured chicken strips into the egg mixture so that they are completely submerged.
Step 6) Dip your floured and egged chicken strips into the bread crumbs so that your breadcrumbs fully coat your chicken strips.
Step 7) Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place your strips onto the sheet.
Step 8) Bake your chicken fries for 10 minutes, then take them out and flip them over. Put them back in the oven and bake them for another 10 minutes.
While you’re waiting for your chicken fries to bake you can whip up a dipping sauce that is similar to Burger King’s Zesty sauce by following the tutorial here.
After eating these, you’ll never want to eat the fast food version again… enjoy!
