Bacon-wrapped Oreos are a guilty indulgence that everyone must give in to from time to time.

If you’ve never had one, you don’t know what you’re missing out on.

It might be best to keep it that way, actually, because once you try a bacon-wrapped Oreo, you won’t be able to put them down. The photos of these tasty treats are going viral on Instagram for a good reason. They make our mouths water just looking at them!

Most people choose to deep fry them.

You simply wrap the Oreos up with a slice of bacon, hold it together with a toothpick, and then toss it in your favorite oil. They come out looking and tasting great.

If you want to skip the oil, there is also the option of smoking the bacon-wrapped Oreos in a smoker or cooking them on the grill.

Grilling them seems like the way to go at a barbecue get-together.

The oven technique:

If you want to knock out a bunch of them at once and aren’t worried about adding any extra flavor, you can bake them in trays in the oven. That would be a good way to prepare hundreds of them at once if you were serving them as an appetizer at a party.

If you are feeling really crazy, you can also use other types of Oreos.

At least one person on Instagram made some delicious-looking bacon-wrapped S’Mores Oreos. They were smoked on a grill at 250F° for 45 minutes to get to this level of perfection. Then, the Sm’Oreos were placed back into the original tray and served.

It’s easy to see how wrapping Oreos in bacon became so popular.

Every photo that we look at of this unhealthy snack makes us instantly want to throw any ideas of diets in the trash. These little calorie bombs are something that we can’t get enough of.

Recipe blog Crave The Good recommends not to wrap your bacon around the Oreos too tightly as you don’t want to crush the cookies. In addition, they encourage cooks to try some of their other favorite cookies as well. For example, she also made bacon-wrapped maple cookies and bacon-wrapped chocolate chip cookies.

When it comes to bacon-wrapped cookies, the sky is the limit.

You can’t go wrong with the classic bacon-wrapped Oreos either. The key is sweet, salty, and smoky flavor combinations. We’ve included the recipe in its most basic form below:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pack of Oreos
  • 1 Package of Thin-sliced Bacon
  • 1 Bottle of Canola oil

Recipe Instructions:

1. Take each Oreo and wrap a slice of bacon around it. If the strips are extra-long, you may need to cut them into smaller pieces. Wrap as much or as little bacon around each Oreo as you would like. Then place a toothpick through the middle of each one to hold the little bundle together.

2. Get the canola oil up to temperature in a skillet and prepare to fry. You can use just enough oil to get the job done or use enough to submerge and deep-fry the Oreos. If you don’t mind the additional calories, the deep-frying option is going to get the Oreos the crispiest.

3. Fry each bacon-wrapped Oreo in the canola oil until the bacon on the outside is nice and crispy. Allow them to cool down before eating. Setting them on a plate lined with a paper towel for a few minutes will help to absorb any extra hot oil. Then they’ll be all ready to enjoy!
