Songs can really touch people’s hearts, especially when the lyrics are meaningful and resonate with people.
That’s the case with a rendition of “You Raise Me Up” that has melted the hearts of the 14 million plus people who have watched the video on YouTube.
The a capella group BYU Vocal Point sang their version of “You Raise Me Up” and it’s certainly something to listen to.
These men sing beautifully as they walk across the woods and wilderness. It adds to the smooth and relaxing sounds of the song.
The song starts with one of the men singing and then the others join in.
As the other members join in, the men begin to harmonize. The result is a rendition of the song that is music to anyone’s ears.
If you’re unfamiliar with the group, BYU Vocal Point was founded in 1991 by two Brigham Young University students.
Over time, more members were added until there were nine members. The group started entertaining people on campus and became an instant hit.
Fast forward almost thirty years and BYU Vocal Point is still entertaining people today.
The video of their rendition of “You Raise Me Up” was recorded in 2018 and is certainly still getting plenty of attention.
The original version of the song was composed by the Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden in 2002 and, believe it or not, it was only what was described as a “minor hit” in their homeland, the UK.
Within just a couple of years, however, many other artists began covering the haunting, soulful song and blew it up around the world.
And while it’s been covered many times before, it’s never been covered quite like this.
Throughout the song, the men walk through the woods. They’re smiling and are just happy to be singing.
They sing the powerful lyrics, “you raise me up”, and that’s just what they’re doing for the people who are listening to them. The lyrics are inspirational.
“You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be”
Many who have listened to it recently have found comfort in the song and its lyrics. These days, people can use something to raise them up and make them feel good about themselves.
The pandemic has left many people feeling down and depressed. Everyone needs a little something to lift their spirits.
That’s probably why so many people who have listened to this video have fallen in love with it.
Here’s a sample of what they’re saying:
“What a stirring and beautiful rendition of this song!! Absolutely beautiful.”
“I’ve played the first 36 seconds over and over like seven times. So so good.”
“This is what the world needs. Voices that will keep us moving and getting rid of our difficulties.”
That’s just a small sampling of the kind words that so many people have said about the song and the group.
At the end of the video, a chorus of people come to accompany the group in the background. They harmonize beautifully as well.
The group also tours, but has no current tour dates, most likely due to the pandemic. But, in the meantime, you can listen to them singing in this video and others.
