You can’t always trust that the people who produce your food are being completely honest. That’s what these 75 photos prove. From gluten-free cookies that contain gluten to cheeseburgers that are missing the cheese, these food lies will have you both angry and cracking up at how ridiculous they are. We honestly have trust issues now.
No one is exempt either. Based on these photos, even the big brands have some serious explaining to do. It just goes to show that the claims made on food packages and in restaurants aren’t always factually correct and you have to be really careful with who you believe. Trust but verify. That is our policy from now on.
1. Missing Scoops
The package claims that there are two whole scoops of raisins in the Raisin Bran. However, this person decided to actually measure them one day. The number of raisins came up a little short.
2. Steak Scraps
This individual saw a steak on sale at the dollar store and couldn’t believe their luck. It was such a good value. However, the end result proved to be a little different than what they expected.
3. Panda Treat
On the package, it shows a beautiful looking panda-shaped treat. Once you open it, it is less impressive. It looks more like a blob of ice cream with chocolate ears.
4. Majority Strawberries
Is it really a container of strawberries and blueberries if the package only contains two blueberries? That is the question. We know it would make us feel a little tricked.
5. Similar Sizes
Apparently, you don’t get any more curly fries if you order a large over a medium. That’s how it appears when comparing the two orders next to one another. We would have to count the fries individually to verify the deceit.
6. Tiny Slice
There is nothing more upsetting than purchasing a big slice of pizza at a sports game only to find that the slice is super tiny. The actual size of the slice was obscured by the large box. It’s basically bite-sized.
7. Commander Crunch
This one is more funny than anything. Someone noticed that Captain Crunch has the wrong patch on his sleeve. It turns out, he isn’t a captain at all.
8. Pathetic Lemon
You never know what you are going to get when purchasing a fruit. It’s so hard to tell if the piece of fruit is ripe or not. Although, we didn’t realize that the same thing applies to lemons as well.
9. Six-Cranberry Chocolate bar
They put just enough cranberries in this cranberry chocolate bar to fill up the window in the front of the package. It makes it seem like the whole bar is going to be covered, but it’s definitely not.
10. Bag Of Stems
Everyone knows that the stems are the worst part of broccoli florets. Here we have a whole bag of them. The picture on the front shows the opposite.
11. 35% Bigger?
One can says it is now 30% bigger and the other says that it is 40% bigger compared to the old version. Which one is correct? Both are the exact same size.
12. McFloat Fail
The advertised Cotton Candy McFloat looked absolutely delicious. However, the in-store version didn’t turn out quite as tasty looking. Unfortunately, fast food is almost always disappointing these days.
13. Misleading Fruit Juice
On the top of the bottle, it says it is 100% fruit juice. Although, it’s important to read the fine print. Down by the nutrition facts, it states that it is only really 27% juice.
14. Chocolate Placement
The chocolate is supposed to be applied to the vanilla ice cream. At least, that’s what the image on the package shows. Yet, the reality is that it’s part of the cone that is covered.
15. Fake Cheeseburger
This cheeseburger was purchased from the streets of Manila, Philippines. The cook attempted to trick the customer by placing a small sliver of cheese on the edge of the bun. It’s a pretty hilarious cost-cutting measure.
16. Barely A Berry Loaf
Technically, yes, it is a berry loaf. There is a berry in it. Most people would expect that every slice would have several berries in it at the minimum though.
17. Rabbit Surprise
Based on the wrapper, you would imagine the chocolate inside is a pope, but surprise! It’s actually a rabbit. Luckily, it probably still tastes just as good.
18. Not Fortified
The syrup claims it is fortified with vitamins and minerals. On the top of the container, it even says they added calcium. If you look at the nutrition facts though, it contains zero percent of the mineral.
19. Deceptive Sandwich
This sandwich is extremely deceptive. They packaged it so it appears as though it is stuffed with all sorts of delicious fillings. The reality is they only put a small sliver of fillings right on the edge.
20. Deformed Tweety
Tweety isn’t as cute in ice cream form as the graphics would lead you to believe. For starters, his eyes are completely crazy. He definitely doesn’t look like the fun cartoon character we all know.

Most cans of Chef Boyardee are very tasty and filled with tons of ravioli, but every once and a while, a defective can slips through the cracks. That’s what happened here. There was only a single ravioli in it!
22. Smaller Bag Bigger Size
On the left is the original size bag of Lay’s. On the right is the “new bigger size”. It’s significantly smaller. There must be something that we aren’t getting here…

These shrimp look pretty huge. They are so long and skinny. Unfortunately, though, it’s not their true size. It’s just an illusion.
24. Extra Oregano
The person thought that the pizza was only going to have a small sprinkling of oregano on it. Then they opened the box. The pizza was completely green!
25. Pepperoni Pizza
Let’s put all of the pepperonis on the visible part of the pizza. That will encourage people to buy more. At least, that’s what we imagine the marketers and designers were thinking.
26. Seedless Watermelon
If you buy a seedless watermelon, the idea is that it doesn’t have seeds. We’re not sure what is really going on with this one, but we definitely see some seeds there. Maybe it was mislabeled?
27. White Lollipop
The lollipop doesn’t actually look like a panda. That’s just the graphic on the plastic. Unless you are paying very close attention when buying it, you won’t even notice until afterward though.
28. Canadian Tea
Most people assume Arizona ice tea, an American company, makes their tea in America. Although, that isn’t always the case. This can was produced in Canada.
29. Not Opening
One thing you’ll learn with package design is that things don’t always work the way they are supposed to. Sometimes, it means a lid is impossible to get off of a jar. This time, it was the “to open push here” label that wasn’t functioning.
30. Italian Style Pizza
We suppose if you try to make a gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free pizza, this is what you get. They certainly were very liberal with their use of the term “pizza”. It doesn’t look like any pizza that we’ve ever seen.
31. Lack Of Strawberry Filling
There is not much strawberry filling in the middle of this ice cream bar. It’s very disappointing. The package shows so much more of it.
32. Nut Shortage
There are zero nuts on the top of this nut brownie. We can see a couple of tiny stray nuts hidden in the center, so it’s not a total loss. But still, we’d definitely classify it as a fail.
33. Container Of Fish
All of the pickled herring in this container is packed up against the edges so it looks totally full. However, the center is just a bunch of oil. It’s pretty misleading.
34. Salted Peanuts
The passenger on the airplane was dismayed to find that the lightly salted peanuts were more like “lightly peanuted salt”. There was tons of salt in the bag and only a couple of peanuts.
35. Broken Cracker

This confetti cupcake Pop-Tart came with next to no icing on it. It’s all breading and no topping. It must have been from a defective batch.

Check out this ridiculous looking pizza. It’s pretty different than what is shown on the box. In fact, it looks more like a cheese cracker than a mushroom pizza.
39. Small Cheeses
The cover of this snack set shows some giant blocks of cheese. The reality is that you get two tiny sticks. It’s all one big lie.
40. Burnt Wafers
Supposedly, the wafers are baked with care. However, this package contained a bunch of burnt wafers. The little elves must have left the oven unattended.
41. Chocolate Blob
The chocolate Santa has no details. It’s just a blob of chocolate. Normally, these sorts of chocolates have at least some minor designs on them.
42. Fettuccine Fail
This edamame fettuccine looks pretty gross when it’s cooked. It’s certainly not the beautiful dish shown on the package. It is much more brown.
43. Very Sad Pizza
It would have been great to have some more mushrooms on this mushroom spinach pizza. As it stands, there are zero of them. Even the spinach is lacking.
44. Disappointing Cone
Honeycomb ice cream sounds pretty delicious. Although, there wasn’t really much of it once the ice cream drumstick was opened up. There was just a small crown of ice cream.
45. Missing Fish
The consumer thought it was going to be a big package of salmon, but it was missing about 2/3 of the fish. As far as we can tell, it doesn’t even look like a normal fillet
46. Folded Burrito
The consistency of a lot of fast food items isn’t great. Just check out this supposed breakfast burrito. It looks more like a folded cheese tortilla than it does a burrito.
47. Sandwich Lie
This bakery lined up a bunch of thin slices of meat next to the edge of the sandwich to make it appear as though it was really stuffed. They did the same thing with the tomatoes. It’s a pretty deceptive practice.
48. Cookies or Crackers?
There’s nothing worse than a cookie that is light on the filling. That’s what this brand did with theirs. They must have been hoping that their customers wouldn’t notice.
49. Adding Avocado
The person paid two dollars extra to get avocado added to their sandwich. It got them one miniature sliver of it. To get a reasonable amount of avocado, you would probably have to pay twenty bucks.
50. False Cookie
Is it false advertising when the cookie doesn’t look like the picture on the box? We could understand if it wasn’t a perfect representation. However, there aren’t even any visible candies in it.
51. Scary Spongebob
It makes a lot of sense that a kid would want a popsicle that looks like Spongebob. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t look anything like him. It would probably scare a kid if they opened it.
52. Baby Carrots Aren’t Real
It turns out, most baby carrots are made by slicing normal carrots in half. We didn’t believe it until we saw this video. We feel lied to now.
53. Hollow Cone
When you scoop ice cream, you have to push it deep down into the cone. If you don’t, this is what happens. The employee at the ice cream store really messed up.
54. Low Cal Sandwiches
If you are trying to stay fit and active, these stuffed sandwiches really are a good idea. They are missing all of the fillings. That means much lower calories than normal.
55. Empty Twinkies
These chocolate-filled Hostess Twinkies have next to no chocolate in them. The package shows that they are gushing with chocolate. What a disappointment!
56. Orange Juice Sizes
Oftentimes, the differences between drink sizes are more a lie than anything. Especially when it comes to orange juice. No one wants to give out large amounts of orange juice. It’s too expensive.
57. Unappetizing Spaghetti
Chili spaghetti sounds delicious. It comes out of the box looking like a dish of slop though. It’s really not very appetizing.
58. Meatball And Four Cheese Melt
There is a serious lack of meatballs and cheese on this bistro melt. They are probably hoping that their customers will just fold it like the label recommends and won’t notice.
59. Ugly Scooby
“I got excited for gumball eyes when I heard the ice cream truck approach the park. ‘May I have a Scooby-Doo?’ I asked.” This is what they received. It’s pretty ugly looking.
60. Frozen Pizzas
If you want a good quality pizza, it’s probably best to order one from your local pizza shop. So many of these ones that come frozen in a box are just straight-up pathetic. Look at the pepperoni placement on this one!
61. White Spinach Queso
It’s always frustrating when you order something based on a menu picture and it comes out looking nothing like the picture. That’s what happened with this White Spinach Queso dip at Chili’s.
62. Nut-Free Coffee
The brand name of the coffee is called “Chock full o’ Nuts”. However, it actually contains no nuts. We can understand how it might cause some confusion.
63. Mini Falafel Wraps
They used a classic packaging trick to make this falafel wrap appear bigger than it really is. By looking at it, you would assume that it is one big wrap, but apparently, it’s two tiny ones.
64. Canned Bananas
This is the first time we’ve heard of bananas in a can. It sounds like an okay idea. However, the syrup makes them turn a really weird color.
65. 2X Snickers
Technically, there are two Snickers bars. Although, the length of them put together isn’t two times a normal one. It is more like 1.25 times.
66. Eleven Inch Sub
Have you ever measured your twelve-inch Subway sandwich? This person did. They found it came up one inch short!
67. Pure Vanilla
This moose tracks ice cream is missing a lot of the moose tracks. There is basically no fudge and peanut butter cups. It only has the vanilla ice cream.
68. Pecan Cereal
You would expect this crunchy pecan cereal to be loaded with pecans. Looking at the bowl, we spot one half of one. Honestly, that barely even counts!
69. Bleeding Eyes
This Spongebob popsicle doesn’t look as messed up as some of the other ones that we’ve seen. However, his black eyes do appear to be bleeding a little bit. They are the first part to start melting.
70. Clown Pop
“I Bought my son a clown pop in Mexico,” explains the father. It doesn’t look at all like a clown. It is a chocolate pop with a couple of sour gummies plastered to the side of it.
71. Chicken Patty Nuggets
When this person opened up their chicken nuggets, they were surprised to find a few awkward looking pieces in there. It turns out, McDonald’s ran out of chicken nuggets, so they just ripped up a chicken patty and threw it in.
72. Accidentally Canned Peaches
The can of diced tomatoes somehow got filled with peaches. It’s not only misleading, but it’s a completely different product. How something like this happens, we have no idea…
73. Just Cheese Burger
“Went to McDonald’s and ordered a plain McDouble. The guy at the drive-thru asked ‘So you don’t want anything on it?’ ‘Just cheese.’ I replied. This is what I got….” explains the man. It just goes to show you have to be very careful what you ask for at these restaurants.
74. Meat Lasagna
This lasagna came out looking kind of gross. Yes, it’s a diet version of normal lasagna, but that doesn’t mean it has to be bad. Something definitely went wrong with the recipe.
75. Pepperoni Panini
This pepperoni panini looked fantastic. That is until it was opened. Inside, the customer found 4 pepperonis and a little stick of cheese.
