There are so many reasons to use an air fryer.

It’s a healthier way of cooking.

When you cook with an air fryer, you keep the food juicy and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.

It saves time and it just makes the cooking process easier and more manageable.

What can you cook in an air fryer? What is the best food that can be cooked in an air fryer?

Chef Mike of Pro Home Cooks shared his list of five top food to cook in an air fryer.

First on the list are falafels.

Falafels are great to eat as a sandwich, with rice, or as a snack with hummus.

But it’s hard to eat often because it’s deep-fried and has too much oil.

In this recipe, Chef Mike shows us how to keep it crispy with less oil.

It’s important to use dried chickpeas for this recipe.

And once it’s fully hydrated, remove as much of the moisture as possible.

This will keep the falafels firm and hold together when you cook in the air fryer.

And use a food processor and pulse all the ingredients (chickpeas, onion, garlic, herbs, olive oil, salt, and pepper) until they’re broken down and mixed together.

Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil before adding the falafels and cook for seven minutes at 370°F. After seven minutes, spray the falafels with cooking oil and cook for another three minutes to make them crispier.

The next food to cook is chicken wings.

The part people love about chicken wings is the crispy skin, which many believe can only be achieved with deep-frying. Chef Mike said we can still achieve that crispy skin texture with air frying but it does need to be brined beforehand.

Apply a generous amount of salt and seasoning on your chicken wings and leave them in the fridge for 12 hours. If you don’t have the time to let it marinate for 12 hours, you can skip that step.

Cook in the air fryer for about eight minutes at 400°F.

Next on the list are brussels sprouts.

It seems counterintuitive to deep-fry brussels sprouts.

Good thing there’s an air fryer to cook it and keep it crispy!

Chop the brussels sprouts in half.

Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

It’s best to preheat your air fryer to the highest temperature to make it crispy.

Once the air fryer is ready, cook the brussels sprouts at 450°F for about 15 mins.

The fourth recipe is for french fries!

Who doesn’t love french fries? French fries are the best snack, appetizer, and even meal, for some.

Chef Mike teaches us how to cook crispy French fries in an air fryer and elevate it.

The first thing to do is slice the potato into long strips and soak them in water for 30 mins to remove the excess starch. While it’s soaked, cook bacon in the air fryer for seven minutes at 360°F. When that’s done, drain the potatoes and add the bacon grease from the air fryer.

Sprinkle salt before you cook it in the air fryer for fourteen minutes at 400°F.

Chop the bacon into small bits and grate cheddar cheese. When the potatoes are done, sprinkle the bacon bits and grated cheese on top and cook them for about a minute at 400°F. After seven minutes, you’ll have cheesy bacon-y fries you can have for yourself or to share.

And lastly, Chef Mike added salmon to the list.

He prefers the air fryer when cooking salmon because, for him, you get the best of both worlds, crispy skin from frying, and the juiciness of grilling.

Like the chicken, it’s best to cure it overnight so sprinkle salt and pepper overnight and leave in the fridge.

Once it’s ready to be cooked, preheat the air fryer to around 400°F.

Massage oil into both sides of the salmon before placing it in the air fryer basket. Cook for about six minutes at 380°F. When it’s done, remove the basket and apply teriyaki sauce on the top side, and cook at 400°F for a minute.
