Christmas is in the air and that simply means we are getting close to ending the year 2020 which has been pretty rough since it started. Even if we are living in a pandemic world, still, nothing could stop us from celebrating the holiday season.

For the past few weeks, you probably have been having feasts here in there together with your family and other loved ones whom you haven’t seen for a long time. You must have had deep-fried or roasted turkey, a barbeque party in your backyard, and many other mouth-watering dishes.

After a deliciously heavy meal, what do you look forward to aside from a few bottles of ice-cold beer? If your answer is a sweet dessert, then you are in the right place.

It is all thanks to the YouTube channel ‘سارة في المطبخ‘ which translates to ‘Sarah in the kitchen.’ They also have a website that you can check for more exciting recipes.

We are all glad that they shared this bounty balls recipe that you’ll surely love, not only because they are downright delicious, but also because they are so easy to make.

To make these munchy balls of total sweetness, you just need to have the following ingredients.

  • 2 cups of shredded coconut
  • ½-¾ cup of sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 pieces of Galaxy chocolate bars or any chocolate brand (the 5th bar is for garnish)

You will be surprised with how easy this bounty balls recipe is.

Step Number One: To make the coconut filling inside the bounty balls, you must have the first 2 ingredients ready. First, pour the shredded coconut into a mixing bowl, and then add the sweetened condensed milk a portion at a time.

Mix them using a spatula first before mixing them by hand, if you’ll mix them right away using your hands, it will stick to your hands. Once the mixture is moist, you may then use your hands afterward.

Step Number Two: Keep working on the mixture until the texture becomes fit for molding. If it’s too dry, you can add more condensed milk until you reach the perfect outcome for this mixture. If the mixture becomes too soft, then just add more shredded coconut.

The perfect mixture should make shaping them into balls easily. Feel free to mold them into balls of your preferred size.

Step Number Three: Now for the chocolate coating, grab 4 Galaxy chocolate bars, and melt them using indirect heat. Put them into a container that can resist direct heat or anything that’s a poor conductor of heat.

Put the bowl on top of another pot or pan with simmering water. Make sure the water does not touch the bowl holding the chocolates. It should be only under minimum heat, keep stirring until all chocolates get dissolved.

If there’s already steam coming from the water, you may then turn off the heat, and just keep stirring the chocolates. The heat needs to be regulated because too much would ruin the entire melting process.

Step Number Four: Once melting the chocolates is done, put parchment paper on top of your kitchen counter or any flat surface for the coating process. Use two forks (perhaps any tool you can think of) to coat the balls with chocolate.

Remember to remove excess chocolate before laying them on the parchment paper. Also, each ball should be placed a couple of inches apart.

Step Number Five: If you’re done coating all the balls with chocolate, just let them rest until the choco coating hardens. If they can be easily picked, it’s time to remove the overlapping chocolate parts from each ball (if there are any), this process is to make them look like “almost” perfect circles.

Step Number Six: Now put the balls close to each other for garnishing. Remember the 5th remaining chocolate bar? Melt it and put it into a piping bag (also known as a pastry bag) or you can also improvise one by using a plastic bag and cutting its tip.

Garnish any way you prefer, it’s going to be your creation after all. While the garnish is still soft, you may sprinkle some shredded coconut on top for the finishing touches. After that, just let them sit under room temperature for the garnish to harden.
