When adults are in a Zoom meeting and the call drops, most of us just hurry to get off. It’s a good excuse to have to leave the meeting, right?
But, what happens when it happens to a group of 2nd graders?
You would think they would jump at the chance to get out of school, even when it’s remote learning, but not this group of second graders from Parkland Elementary School.
They used the opportunity to get caught up and chat with some classmates they may be missing from not seeing each other in-person.
The result is hilarious!

It all started when the teacher’s call dropped accidentally, leaving her students unattended. The last the students heard was, “Can everyone hear me?…but we’ll try and at least discuss…”
Well, they did discuss, just not with her.
As soon as the teacher leaves, the kids start asking what happened. One little boy answered that she left the meeting and another little girl confirms.

The voice of reason is heard when a boy chimes in saying that the teacher was kicked off the internet. He gets confirmation from his classmate, but it doesn’t stop there.
One little boy breaks out into song before his classmate has a revelation.

She tells the class that she sees the little record sign at the top of the screen and that the teacher was recording them and could see if they weren’t behaving…and the principal could see too.
That’s some serious stuff.
A couple of kids say they know, but they carry on anyway. The little rebels.
One little boy decides he’s not going to go down for anything and announces he’s going to cut his mic because he doesn’t want to talk.

Smart move.
The kids then start talking about how they should behave. They all agree.
Then the little girl who had the revelation about the record button starts talking about how they would get into big trouble with their parents if the principal saw them being bad.

What would exactly happen if they got caught?
They would be toast.
That’s what one child says. But some kids don’t get it. Kids tend to take things literally and this is one of those times.
That’s when he explains that being toast meant that they would be in trouble. Ahh…now they get it, but some of them can’t get toast off the brain!

One girl wants toast while the one explains that the principal doesn’t have their numbers, so they would be in the clear, right?

The discussion quickly goes back to toast and how if you want toast you should have it for breakfast tomorrow. But, not just toast…toast with eggs…and lettuce!
The video ends there, but we can only imagine what else these kids continue to talk about. They may not have had their lesson that day, but they did have some serious life discussions…about toast…and lettuce.
It’s fun to see what kids will do when they think no one is watching.
This is just one classic example.
They also gave the more than five million people who have viewed the video so far, a good laugh. Wouldn’t you agree? And, don’t you wish your next Zoom meeting went that well?
If only all of our Zoom meetings revolved around toast and eggs! We’d all be a lot more excited to show up.
