To begin this recipe, start by cracking three eggs, separating the yolk from the whites.

Then, beat the yolk using chopsticks. Don’t worry if you don’t have chopsticks! A simple fork or whisk will surely get the job done.

After achieving an equal yellow consistency, it’s time for the next step.

After getting all of the egg whites back into the mixing bowl, add powdered sugar. Depending on how sweet you like your desserts, you’re free to add as much sugar as you see fit. Gently stir the sugar and egg whites together.

Now, it’s time to move to the stovetop!

Using one medium-sized frying pan, add butter then heat. Spread the butter around the pan, until the base is sufficiently covered. We don’t want our final masterpiece to stick to the pan!

Pour the stirred yolk evenly onto the frying pan.

Be sure to keep a low to medium heat! You don’t want to burn the base layer of your dessert.

Gently loosen the edges of the mixture to ensure they do not stick or burn.

Poke several holes throughout the yolk layer. This allows any excess of heat to escape, leading to an overall more equal distribution of heat.

For the next step, simply add the egg white and sugar mixture into the pan.

Gently pat the mixture to achieve an equal spread of whites across the yolk layer. Be sure to level out any bumps or clumps!

Add a lid and let cook! After cooking through both layers, transfer the dessert onto a cutting board. At this point, the egg white layer will begin to shrink as heat dissipates.

As the steam rises, you can see the dessert shrink with your very own eyes!

Gently cut the dessert in half while carefully flipping one half onto the other, creating a sandwiching effect.
