Grandparents are the best, especially grandmas. Grandmas are beautiful creatures with silver-gray hair (not all, but most) and they are the only ones aside from our parents who will love us eternally. They will spoil us and give us almost everything that we ask for.
Also, with those decades of life experience that they have, they will make sure that we make the best choices in life, even with the bad ones. Grandmas will cook the best dishes for their grandkids and will never let their kiddos feel hunger for as long as they live.
Though grandmas are not the strongest humans alive, they will never let anyone hurt you, and they will protect you with all their might.
The love that they have for their grandkids is simply immeasurable. Consider yourself lucky if your grandma possesses all of these traits.
Above everything, your grandma is not just your elderly relative, not just the mother of either your mom or dad. She is your best friend- and this list will show you just that in more ways than one.
1. Grandma gives the warmest hugs!
Hugs are therapeutic, particularly a warm hug from your grandma. Your grandma will give you the warmest of hugs at any time of the day. Whether you are happy or sad, they simply know when you need one, and that makes their hugs extra warm and special.
2. She is an excellent teacher.
She has taught your parents and she’s going to do the same to you at a different level of expertise. It’s a natural instinct from her, and whenever she teaches you about something, she will make sure to do it with so much compassion and patience, for she’s been there just like you.
3. Grandma encourages you to be a better person.
There will be times that your grandma will disagree with you, especially if you’re about to do something foolish, something that will do you no good, and that is perfectly fine. They will let you commit mistakes but not to an extent wherein you as a person will be badly affected. Just like your parents, your grandma wants nothing but the best for you.
4. She has the sagest advice.
Again, she’s been there, and she’s done that multiple times before you even tried to do it. Therefore, their pieces of advice go beyond just lecturing. Whenever they start sharing their words of wisdom, you should listen because it’s always for your own good.
5. Grandma’s love is entirely pure.
She will give you unconditional love as you’ve never had it before, and in return, she wants nothing. That’s how pure her love is for you because, in her eyes, you are the dearest creature alive. She has no other plans in life other than to continuously love you and you’re so lucky for that.
6. She makes sure that you never go hungry.
Your grandma probably has the thickest cookbook, it might be hidden somewhere, or maybe all the recipes are already imprinted in her mind. And trust me when I say that they cook the best dishes ever, their decades of experience in the kitchen naturally reflect in their cooking. They are ready to fill you with sumptuous dishes that are cooked out of love.
7. She keeps our sweet tooth very satisfied.
She is one of the sweetest people alive and so are the treats she has ready for you. When you do good, you’ll get a sweet treat, but if not, she’d still give you one. Though she spoils you with so many sweets, she would still remind you to brush your teeth regularly to get rid of those cavities. A little bit contradicting, right? Anyway, that’s just how things are for your grandma.
8. Listening is one of her strongest skills.
Though they are decades older than you, your grandma still has that sharp sense of understanding, and bet you, she will be there whenever you need someone to talk to. She will listen to you and will not miss a single detail about it, and don’t worry because your secrets are safe with her.
9. She isn’t too old to have fun and play.
Who would dare say that your grandma is too old to play? They might not know how to play a game console or any type of game device but she knows one thing for sure, and that is to have fun. She may don the oldest attire but she is still “young” at heart and you will surely love to play with her anytime.
10. Her house is always warm and relaxing.
If it’s your first time to visit her house, you’ll be surprised and you’ll probably want to stay there forever. The aroma and atmosphere of your grandma’s house are so warm and inviting, you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else once you step inside. It’s still a puzzle to many but that’s just what it feels like to be inside a grandma’s house.
11. She makes you feel smart and appreciated.
Though your grandma has more life experience than you, she can’t deny the fact that she misses on some things. There are things that they don’t know, especially those things that rose during the newer generations. When they can’t figure out something on their own, they will run to you and ask for your help. They love seeing you doing things for them, it makes them feel loved, and you, on the other hand, will feel smart and appreciated.
12. She inspires you to wake up early and seize the day.
The generation that you live in today lacks sleep because of many factors and your grandma knows that. But it’s no secret to everyone that “the early bird catches the worm”, right? That’s the culture that they had before and she knows that starting early will give you an edge over things. It might be hard to adapt to what they had before, but you’ll be amazed by its benefits, and later, you’ll thank your grandma for making you do this.
13. Grandma knows that life is meant to be lived.
Sadly, they don’t have much time to live in this world, it saddens you, but it saddens them the most. So for as long as they live, they will continue and will never fail to remind you that time is one of the most valuable things in life that can never be replaced. She wakes up every day with a positive mind and a thankful heart and she wants you to live your life to the fullest just like what she is doing.
Lucky are those who still have their grandmas beside them.
They are blessings from above, and as a grandchild, you should be thankful for each day that you get to spend with them.
